Effective in building up the immune system to fight against viral infections and the common cold.
Increases longevity, reduces inflammation. The root extract calms the gastrointestinal tract and adrenal glands and prevents fatigue, discourages retention of salt and water and combats clots. It has been used to regulate blood pressure and reduce high cholesterol levels, production of interferons that stimulate natural killer cells that keep an infection from spreading. Traditional herbalists have long used Astragalus as a diabetes treatment to reduce complications of poor circulation. 
Astragalus has a protective effect on the liver and helps detoxify the liver. It also strengthens metabolism and digestion and enhances the effects of other herbs that help improve digestion issues. 
The treatment of Lyme Disease, postpartum fever and recovery from severe loss of blood, fatigue linked to decreased appetite diarrhea and anemia. Organ prolapsed, abnormal uterine bleeding, spontaneous sweating resulting from weakened resistance, promotes urination, tissue healing, discharge of pus, removes edema, enhances immune function.
Not to be used in acute infections. 
Nutrients: Calcium, choline, copper, essential fatty acids, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, zinc, cobalt, sodium, rubidium, molybdenum, chromium, vanadium, tin, silver, tantalum, hafnium, europium and thorium.
Contraindications: Astragalus is generally considered safe and very well tolerated, because of its long history of traditional and clinical use. However, it may increase the risk of bleeding, so caution is advised to those with bleeding disorders or those taking drugs that may increase the risk of bleeding.  
Anyone suffering an acute infection should not use Astragalus, particularly in large amounts. 
Those with autoimmune diseases should consult with a health care provider before using any herbal medicine that could have immune boosting effects. 
Avoid using astragalus while pregnant or breastfeeding, due to harmful effects seen in preliminary studies.
